ABOUT
St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground offers a variety of Youth Sports throughout the year for both St. Andrew’s Parrish residents and residents of the City of Charleston.
CONCUSSION EDUCATION PROGRAM
A concussion is a type of , or TBI, caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that can change the way your brain normally works. Concussions can also occur from a blow to the body that causes the head to move rapidly back and forth. Even a “ding,” “getting your bell rung,” or what seems to be mild bump or blow to the head can be serious.
Concussions can occur in any sport or recreation activity. So, all coaches, parents, and athletes need to learn concussion signs and symptoms and what to do if a concussion occurs.
PAYS – PARENT CERTIFICATION
St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground is proud to participate in the Parents Association for Youth Sports (PAYS) program, which is provided by the The program educates, motivates and holds PAYS members accountable to the PAYS Parents’ Code of Ethics. PAYS encourages good sportsmanship, positive reinforcement and keeping youth sports in its proper perspective. The PAYS approach centers on a combination of education, motivation and positive reinforcement.
One parent of each child participating in St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground athletics is required to complete the PAYS certification process once every 12 months. If you need to renew your certification or are obtaining it for the first time, you may either attend a complimentary PAYS session hosted by St. Andrew’s, or complete the certification online.
