I always thought kickboxing was one cool way to exercise but always I played other sports and pursed other workout routines. In college I took some kickboxing classes and immediately realized just how awesome it made me feel, the muscles that I worked and just how empowered I felt (while also listening to some kick butt music). I recently bought a kickboxing bag that I could use whenever I wanted to rather than having to make it to a class or to the gym. Kickboxing is one of those amazing cardio workouts that helps build your core, arms and balance/coordination.
Not only is this a great workout it’s also one amazing stress reliever where you get to punch and kick it all out after a long day or week. Did you know that in 20-30 minutes you can burn 300 calories? That is oh so much better than standing on an elliptical or the “I hate my life treadmill” and not going anywhere but on the same tread literally. Since I have added kickboxing into my workout routine 2-3 times a week, I can tell the definition it’s creating in my arms and body. Believe me, it works BUT you have to be persistent as with any workout.
Cardio is important in your workout routines but you definitely have to mix it up 1) so you don’t get board and 2) train different muscles instead of doing the same thing over and over. If you have not tried kickboxing then let me suggest YOU SHOULD! If you’re looking for a change, a way to mix it up, get leaner, take out some stress and get a fabulous core then it’s definitely for you. You can easily get the gear to use at home or if you have the time to catch a class then by all means get in there and get kickin.
P.S. some of the best kickboxing music is PINK.
Have you tried kickboxing?
