I have to admit that I am an addict. For the last few years I have been addicted to buying fitness DVDs and working out at home. My journey into fitness started in 2000 when I picked up a book called BODY FOR LIFE, which was a complete workout program and diet plan. This book contained dozens of stories of everyday people who completely transformed themselves by following the plan.
The problem was that I was spending a fortune on gym membership and the only time that I could go was when the gym was full of people and there were long queues for all the equipment. Just as I was getting fed up with the situation I came across a fantastic workout program called P90X and it totally transformed the way I approached health and fitness. I quit the gym, invested in a set of adjustable weights and never looked back.
Now I work out at a time that is most convenient for me and no longer need to wait to use equipment. And year after year I see the results that had always eluded me at the gym. Even though I paid a small fortune for personal training, I never really saw the results I wanted. Now I have a selection of my own personal trainers whenever I want them and I can now see the results of my hard work.
Now at the age of 47 I am fitter and slimmer than I was in my 20s. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have the body of an Adonis and look nothing like the ‘AFTER’ pictures you see in the commercials for these kinds of products – and I certainly don’t look like the professional fitness models they use to demonstrate the exercises.
But these exercise DVDs help me to keep fit and motivated to eat healthily, even though there are times when I skip workouts and fall off my diet (I am human after all and sometimes life just gets in the way). I never find these workout videos easy and I always feel challenged, sometimes I spend most of the time doing the easy exercise options that are provided or even pausing them every ten minutes to get my breath back, but I really believe that they keep me feeling young, able to cope with the stuff that life throws at me and most import of all, I sleep like a baby.
So, why should you trust my reviews? I don’t work for any of the companies that I review so I give a unbiased, balanced opinion of all the products I review (even though I only write about the DVDs I like, I always give you the pros and cons of each one). Also, unlike most other similar review sites, I can guarantee that I have used (almost) all these workout programs myself and will give you my own PERSONAL opinion of them. Those workout videos that I haven’t used myself (like the ones that are more targeted towards the female market) I have bought for friends or family members and asked them to give me their feedback on them.
So if you feel that you need a kick-start into fitness, then give it a go. Either read my quick overview of workout video categories or read my in depth exercise DVD reviews, click on the link to Amazon and start your journey into fitness.
