Fitness Tips:
- Always mentally tell yourself that you can do it! If you think you can’t, then you won’t. Don’t psych yourself out of achieving what you never thought was possible. I have achieved many, many things I once thought were impossible!
- Don’t let a bad workout get you down. We all have off days, even the fittest of people. Just be happy that you tried, and something is ALWAYS better than nothing! Pick yourself up, and aim to do better next time.
- One of my favorite quotes, “Pain is temporary, quitting is permanent.” I tell myself this at least a few times during each and every workout!
- Try to think about things while working out. This will help distract you, and you won’t realize how much you are actually doing. I do this a lot when running!
- Exercise helps burn off stress. When you are having a bad day that is the best time to hit the gym! You may not feel like it at the time, but I PROMISE you will feel so much better afterwards!
- Feeling tired? Get a workout in! Exercise is nature’s energy drink; you will feel more rejuvenated and energized after than before you started!
- Switch it up! Your body is smart and adjusts to the work you are doing. After a few weeks, the same workouts will no longer be effective for continued results. Change up your routine and keep your body guessing.
- You should ALWAYS stretch both before AND after a workout. Stretching, especially after a workout, helps you recover faster and you will be less sore. This is something I am trying to remember as well because I don’t stretch as much as I should. One thing I really enjoy doing, is getting a good run in and then going to a slow-paced yoga class after. You get a really good stretch after a hard workout, it feels great!
- Listening to music during a workout really gets me pumped and helps keep me going! With a good playlist, I can run all day (OK, not really) but you get the idea. Some of my favorite workout tunes are: Any song by Foo Fighters, but my favorites are All my Life, Breakout, and Monkey Wrench. Push It – Salt-n-Pepa Gimme Shelter – The Rolling Stones My Body – Young the Giant Hypnotize – The Notorious BIG Dog Days are Over – Florence The Machine Firework – Katy Perry Yeah! – Usher SexyBack – Justin Timberlake Machinehead – Bush
