Hello Ladies,
Following is the fitness plan that I followed during my weight loss phase. When I began my weight loss journey, I was a certified aerobics instructor. And now I am a certified yoga therapist
To begin with I had to help myself by trying different workouts at home. I bought this book written by Payal Gidwani Tiwari, . Initially, I did my exercises early in the mornings before my son woke up. I use to start with a few stretches.
Pre – workout stretches:
The preparatory practice of any exercise is very important as it loosens up all the tightness in all the major joints and relaxes each and every muscle of the body. Stretches should never be ignored or treated casually just because they are simple, gentle and comfortable.
This practice cleanses lungs and is very helpful for any respiratory disorders. It balances and strengthens nervous system and tones the digestive system. It purifies nadis, and removes sleepiness.
Ardhahalasana: ardha- half; hal–to plough; aasana – the posture.
This aasana works on pelvic region. It strengthens the abdominal muscles, burns fat from lower body.
Naukasana: boatpose.
This aasana stimulates the muscular, digestive, circulatory, nervous and hormonal systems, tones all the organs and removes lethargy. It is also useful for women preparing for child bearing and may be practiced during second trimester of pregnancy.
Dhanurasana: bow pose.
This posture is useful for lower back pain due to slipped disc or cervical spondylitis. The kidneys are massaged and excess weight is reduced around the abdominal area. It is useful for menstrual disorders and for management of diabetes. The spine is realigned thereby removing stiffness. It strengthens the thigh muscles.
Sarpasana:
the cobra pose/ the serpent pose. This aasana deepens breathing. It can help remove backache and keep the spine supple. It tones ovaries and uterus and some other gynecological disorders. It also stretches and strengthens the abdominal muscles.
Surya namaskars:
I can write a book praising suryanamaskars. They are so good and so helpful in terms of making fat to fit. I just love them. Its like the soul of yoga to me. It works on each and every part of the body. One has to focus on the posture and bring awareness. I will share a full detailed post on Suryanamskars soon
Like they say in yoga: “Sthiramsukhamaasanam” This means when you are performing any aasana, in the final posture you should feel steady and comfortable then only you are said to have mastered that asana.
Exercise helps weight loss. There is no shortcut
