Well, it’s a Monday – my site is as ready as it possibly could be for the time being. I’m ecstatic because as of this morning, I’m at the lightest weight I have been at in over a year. I think it’s time to create my first blog post!
I have been playing with the idea of creating my own blog website for a long time. I have been so inspired by my favorite trainers who have put so much work into reaching out to others via the web. Cassey Ho, creator of Blogilates, hosts a beautiful blog where she uploads weekly videos, monthly workout calendars, recipes, her own quips and wisdom – probably the biggest inspiration of all when it came to making me want to create my own blog. Shout-out to Cassey if she ever sees this! I follow many people I’ve never met via Instagram who are so passionate about fitness. This is where one of my other all-time favorite trainers, Chalene Johnson, does so much communication with others. I am so excited to say she has ‘Liked’ some of my posts before!❤ I feel it is essential to have pics of these two inspirational women on my first post.
I am so lucky that I have kept in contact with my friend Erin Price from Point Park University. This is where I spent one semester of my college career before transferring to Clarion where she studied Digital Media and Photojournalism – she also had an IMMENSE weight loss journey of her own where she lost like 100 pounds! Maybe I will ask for her to contribute to this blog as well – this is totally her jam, and she has helped me so much as my Webmaster!
And as most of you know that are probably reading this right now – I’ve had a pretty crazy journey of my own. From being born with Craniosynostosis, having struggles with anxiety and depression, and also the establishment of my #1 passion of fitness through losing about 70 pounds from my highest weight ever. I just cannot wait to write about it all.
But this blog isn’t just going to be all about me either. Here and there, I’ll do some “self-share” sessions but I also want to post recipes, workout stuff, eventually videos (I’m going to be making a YouTube channel) – ahhhh I just have so many plans!
This blog has been named “Radial Redhead” because I love the catchiness of the name, and the fact that radial means that something is coming from the center and going outward. What goes on in our lives is so much determined by what’s going on inside of us. In our mind, our emotions, our overall spirit. For example, with weight loss, you have to have a powerful enough energy behind your reason for wanting to lose the weight in order to be successful with it. With past attempts that were powered by just wanting to be SKINNY (I hate that word now!) I was never successful. When I became just so sick and tired of being tired all the time and began to worry about what it would be like to spend the rest of my life feeling so devoid of energy, needing to find clothes that fit me right, not being able to enjoy challenging nature hikes…those were the powerful reasons that made me change what was going on on the inside.
In this RADIAL spirit, I want to reach out and help others feel better. I am looking forward not only to writing about fitness and nutrition, but also implementing some psychological work with tools such as guided imagery and meditation, therapeutic journaling…the possibilities are endless!
Happy Monday everyone, have a great week, and I can’t wait to post even more.❤
