What Is Freedom!

My town is bubbling with Fourth of July Activities; a bike parade over here, a doggie parade over there, children running around laughing and sharing smiles, and still others going about their regular daily routines. Running or walking the lake, or bathing in the sunshine! Still others are working, preparing for the big Fireworks display and Gazebo Concert to take place this evening. I was out getting a tire changed, cleaning my car, nothing very Holiday like, but I kept getting pulled to these images of people enjoying their day and their families. So much joy around! I couldn’t help but feel their joy and smile!

I continued to go about my day, fitting in my daily workout and prepared the food for this afternoon’s get together. As I was taking my shower to get ready a great Blog came to mind, as they always do, in the shower! (And great, well I guess that is a matter of opinion)

I was thinking about what Freedom Is! What it means to me!

Freedom to me does not mean that I am free to do and say what I please. Freedom to me means that I have a choice! I have a choice what I say, what I do, how I choose to feel! Freedom to me means that I can bring my children up with my values and morals!  That I can bring them up anywhere I choose, and in any fashion I want! It is my choice! Freedom to me means that if I don’t understand something or what to know more about any topic I have the freedom to do so! It is always a choice! I know some are thinking no, no, no you don’t! I am speaking about myself only! I can not speak for anyone else although I have my opinion. I believe we all have a choice, I can only hope that the choice others are taking is the right, kind choice! Having a good moral background and love in my heart I have always seemed to demonstrate that in my choices!

Freedom to me means that I can choose any partner I want and I have the freedom to end that partnership if that is what I desire. My thoughts are, if one part of a partnership wants to end it then it was not the right partnership for either one and in the end they will both be better off. We all deserve to be with people who love, cherish and adore us. Yes, that’s another blog all together!

What is Freedom….freedom to believe what ever I choose to believe or believe in. My children have that same right! I as a parent I have guided them with my own beliefs, now it is their turn to find out what resonates with them, they have that freedom! I know my children and no matter what they choose they will always live thoughtful, compassionate lives! This brings more joy and pride than I can tell you! I will also say that I did not do it alone, I asked for help along the way many times, when I couldn’t do it myself, because I had that freedom not just because of where I live, but I gave myself the freedom to ask as did the people who came into my life! Freedom to me meant that when I felt like a caged animal, I had the freedom to escape! Yes there were many times raising two girls on my own when I felt this way! See, Freedom can mean different things to different people!

What is Freedom….freedom to me means being able to choose my style of dress, hairstyle, and shoes that are comfortable to me and make me feel good.  Freedom to me means having an opinion about what others choose, and not sharing it! Freedom to me is choosing how I treat my body and what I put into it! Freedom to me is watching TV or not watching TV! These are just a few of things that popped in my head, but there are so much more!

What is Freedom…freedom to me is being able to reach others and hug them, especially when they didn’t think they needed one!

What is Freedom… freedom to me is choosing laughter and joy and holding it in my heart!

Happy Fourth of July! I am so thankful for all the freedoms we have and for the men and women who have given and continue to give us that freedom!
